'Picture This' - A poem / reflection on what it means to be an Artist

Color is everything.
Desire to caress, blend,
shape. Colors
should twist and swim
across the white.

Flowers in my window.
Matisse saw
colors thick, black
consuming. Convulsions
in my soul. Who lives in
me? Who was I? I am desperation.

I can twist your thoughts.
I am need. Aesthetics
is a gift. Charming days;
Mozart, F. Scott Fitzgerald,

the smell of beautiful women,
boating on the canal. Blue-violet.
my greatest creation
will be me.

I read Nietzsche and
Aldous Huxley.
Men who think too much.
I think, but what of it?

I hate now.
I should be creating,
seducing, doing. The
closest we get to
God is art. Everything
is the future which
may not be. Light, romance,
music.

France is waiting.
